1. Who is running this promotion
1.1 This lottery is promoted by Hatherleigh Carnival Committee (“the Carnival”, “we”, “us”), of 2 Buddle Lane, Hatherleigh, Devon, EX20 3HX
1.2 The Carnival is registered as a small society lottery with West Devon Borough Council, registration number: WDSL0095
1.3 The designated promoter is Hatherleigh Carnival Committee of 2 Buddle Lane, Hatherleigh, Devon, EX20 3HX. Any question about this lottery should go to info@hatherleighcarnival.co.uk
2. Who can enter
2.1 You must be aged 16 or over. By buying a number you confirm that you are.
2.2 We may ask for proof of age at any point. If we find that a number was bought by someone under 16, that entry is void, the ticket price will be refunded, and any prize will be withheld and redrawn.
2.3 Members of the Carnival committee and their households may enter the competition.
3. Buying a number
3.1 Each entry is one numbered ball. Numbers run from 001 to 360. The Hatherleigh Carnival Committee reserves the right to add additional numbered balls for sale in the range from 361 to 1000 via the website at any point without prior notice.
3.2 Every ticket in this lottery costs £2.50. All tickets cost the same.
3.3 Each number is sold once only. As soon as a number is bought it is withdrawn from sale and cannot be bought by anyone else.
3.4 You may buy as many numbers as are still available.
3.5 Payment is taken in full at the time of purchase, by card. Your entry is not confirmed, and your number is not reserved, until payment has been completed.
3.6 Adding a number to your basket does not reserve it. Numbers are allocated on payment, so if two people are buying at once the number goes to whoever pays first.
4. Your ticket
4.1 Entries are digital. Nothing is posted to you.
4.2 On payment you will receive a confirmation email listing the number or numbers you have bought. **That email is your ticket — please keep it.**
4.3 It is your responsibility to give a correct email address and contact details. We cannot be held responsible for confirmations or prize notifications that do not arrive because the details given were wrong. If your confirmation has not arrived within an hour, check your junk folder and then contact us at info@hatherleighcarnival.co.uk
5. The draw
5.1 The draw takes place on Saturday 19th September 2026, at approximately 3pm, starting at the top of Market Street (Hatherleigh) and finishing at the bottom of Bridge Street (Hatherleigh).
5.2 All balls are released together from the top of the course. The winning numbers are the first balls to cross the finish line, as determined by the judges appointed by the Carnival.
5.3 The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
5.4 If two or more balls cannot be separated at the line, the winner will be decided by either an immediate re-run between the tied balls or a random draw between the tied numbers, made in public straight afterwards.
5.5 Marshals may clear obstructions from the course, but will not assist any individual ball. A ball that leaves the course will be returned to the point at which it left, or declared out of the race, at the judges’ discretion.
5.6 You do not need to be present to win.
5.7 Unsold numbers may or may not be entered into the draw at the Hatherleigh Carnival Committee’s discretion and cannot win.
6. Prizes
6.1 The prizes are:
• 1ST PRIZE: £200.00
• 2ND PRIZE: £100.00
• 3RD PRIZE: £50.00
6.2 Prizes are as stated. They are not transferable and cannot be exchanged.
6.3 The winning number will be published on the Hatherleigh Carnival Facebook Page (https://www.facebook.com/hatherleighcarnival) within 2 days of the draw, and the winner contacted directly using the details given at purchase.
6.4 If we cannot reach a winner within 30 days despite reasonable efforts, the prize funds will revert to the Carnival.
6.5 We may publish the winning number and the winner’s first name and general locality. We will not publish full names, addresses or contact details. If you would rather we did not publish anything identifying you, tell us and we will respect that.
7. Refunds, postponement and cancellation
7.1 Entries are non-refundable and non-transferable once bought, except as set out below.
7.2 Because this is a lottery under the Gambling Act 2005, the 14-day cancellation right that applies to most things bought online does not apply here. This is an exclusion set out in the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
7.3 If the draw is postponed, all numbers stay valid for the rescheduled date and no refunds are due.
7.4 If the draw is cancelled outright, every entrant will be refunded the full ticket price to the card used.
7.5 Nothing in these terms limits your legal rights where they cannot lawfully be limited.
8. Your information
8.1 We use the details you give at purchase to administer your entry, contact you about the draw, and meet the record-keeping obligations that come with running a registered lottery.
8.2 We do not sell your details or pass them to anyone else for marketing.
8.3 We keep entry records for 2 years, as required for a registered small society lottery, and then delete them.
8.4 Full detail is in our privacy policy: https://www.hatherleighcarnival.co.uk/privacy-policy/
9. Complaints
9.1 If you are unhappy with anything about this lottery, contact info@hatherleighcarnival.co.uk in the first instance and we will respond within 5 working days.
9.2 If we cannot resolve it between us, you can raise the matter with the licensing team at West Devon Borough Council, who hold our registration.
10. Playing responsibly

11. Acceptance
By buying a number you confirm that you are 16 or over, and that you accept these terms.
